⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ As one of my most anticipated reads of the year, it did not disappoint。 It surpassed my expectations and I loved all the giggles, the crocodile tears, and even the occasional nail-biting that this adventure put me through。 Im sad that it’s over, but this is definitely sticking with me as one of my favorite reads of the year (or ever)。

I… can’t talk about it。 I am bereft。 This book is so beautiful I can’t even put it in to words。 Tell me why I am crying over the creepy sentient possessing nightmare right now? ‘Here we are, my darling girl… the end of all things。 The last page in our story。’

By far the better book out of this duology! (Mostly because book 1 sets up everything perfectly lol still good though)I fell in love with a side character (Elm💜 I love sassy men) in book one and was beyond excited to find out he has his own POV AND A POTENTIAL ROMANCE 💕 💗 😍 and also Ravyn now has a POV!! This book had so many emotional twist and turns I was glued to this book wondering how in the heck are they going to end this book? I could not put this down! Finished it in less than 24 hours。 I was so thrilled with the character development and pov’s we got。 Although not quite as atmospheric as the first book, it was plot-driven and action-packed and the story as a whole flowed so well。 A very satisfying conclusion to the duology。

This was even better than the first one。 I loved this so much and hope that she writes more books!! ❤️

I'm obsessed。 I'm so impressed with how Gillig managed to wrap this story up in such a satisfying way, and I'm looking forward to picking up whatever else she comes out with。 。。。more

。。。more

A little slow at the beginning, but overall enjoyed the book and the story。 Thoughts the original plot line was creative, and the ending left me satisfied。

Okay wow。 How rare is it to love the sequel as much (more??) than the original? Strong pacing and story telling throughout。 Every character had their moment to shine。 No notes!! Definitely one of my favorite series I’ve read this year。

“Here we are, my darling girl。 The end of all things。 The last page of our story。”If I were being REALLY honest with my review- this book gets 6 stars。 I thought I liked the characters before, this book made me fall absolutely in love with all of them。 I became so emotionally invested that by the end of the book I was straight up sobbing at work during my break。 In the conclusion to The Shepard King duology, we follow our characters as they continue their hunt for the Twin Alders card to unite t “Here we are, my darling girl。 The end of all things。 The last page of our story。”If I were being REALLY honest with my review- this book gets 6 stars。 I thought I liked the characters before, this book made me fall absolutely in love with all of them。 I became so emotionally invested that by the end of the book I was straight up sobbing at work during my break。 In the conclusion to The Shepard King duology, we follow our characters as they continue their hunt for the Twin Alders card to unite the deck。 We are taken on a long and dangerous journey spanning generations。 We learn what could drive someone to become the nightmare。 We witness the power of love time and time again。 When I finished, my boyfriend asked me “was it everything you hoped it would be?” And all I could say was “it was so much more。” I couldn’t have dreamed up a more perfect ending if I tried with all my might。This is the first duology I’ve ever read as I tend to be drawn to longer series but there is something so poetic and beautiful about keeping things short and oh-so sweet。 I feel completely broken and yet so healed at the same time。 I am left completely in awe at Gillig’s storytelling power。 I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us in the future。 。。。more

A fantastic ending to a beautiful dark fairy tale! Even better than the first book with great character development and world building!

4。3/5 stars。 Good sequel。 All the characters are so twisted you start out hating them and end up loving them。 The nightmare <3

This duology was really great。 I loved the prose and riddles spoken by the Nightmare and the magic system is really cool。 The romance elements were okay for me, not necessary for the story to progress though。 I reread the first book to really get a good picture where this one started and I'm glad I did! I also happened to be nearly first in line for my book through the library so that worked out perfectly。 Will definitely be reading more by this author!! I received this book as a Netgalley ARC in exchange for an honest review。 I absolutely loved this book。 I also didn’t realize it was a duology and not a trilogy and now I am so sad to say goodbye to Blunder and all its wonderful characters。 This book tied the story up beautifully。 I absolutely loved getting POVs from Elm and finding out more about Ione as well。 Getting into the Nightmare’s mind was a special treat, and a chilling one at that。 If you love dark and broody fantasy with a side of ro I received this book as a Netgalley ARC in exchange for an honest review。 I absolutely loved this book。 I also didn’t realize it was a duology and not a trilogy and now I am so sad to say goodbye to Blunder and all its wonderful characters。 This book tied the story up beautifully。 I absolutely loved getting POVs from Elm and finding out more about Ione as well。 Getting into the Nightmare’s mind was a special treat, and a chilling one at that。 If you love dark and broody fantasy with a side of romance, you’ll love this duology。 。。。more

I absolutely loved this book。 I have been looking forward to reading it since I finished the first book in February。 The story picks up where it left off but there is a more romantic note to this book in my opinion, love is blossoming with other characters but there's a different level of love and care with the two main characters。 I don't want to give much away in case you haven't read the first book, if you have not then please read it before this one。 I love the development of the characters I absolutely loved this book。 I have been looking forward to reading it since I finished the first book in February。 The story picks up where it left off but there is a more romantic note to this book in my opinion, love is blossoming with other characters but there's a different level of love and care with the two main characters。 I don't want to give much away in case you haven't read the first book, if you have not then please read it before this one。 I love the development of the characters and the whole world is just beautifully described。 There are parts of the book that kept me up late because I had to see what happened at the end of the next chapter。 The world of magic is beautiful。 The writing is almost artistic and conjures up beauty, pain, sadness and love perfectly。 One of my favorite reads this year。 。。。more

4。5/5 ⭐️This book is the perfect example of what a sequel should be, every single plot point, character, and relationship was improved in this novel, and it was so wonderfully readable。The magic system and story of this duology was just so unique that it gave me everything I want from a fantasy novel。 it was creepy at times but it was still so magical and well versed and for me that is perfect。This book has such a good balance of plot and romance that if you have a strong preference for either I 4。5/5 ⭐️This book is the perfect example of what a sequel should be, every single plot point, character, and relationship was improved in this novel, and it was so wonderfully readable。The magic system and story of this duology was just so unique that it gave me everything I want from a fantasy novel。 it was creepy at times but it was still so magical and well versed and for me that is perfect。This book has such a good balance of plot and romance that if you have a strong preference for either I think you will still enjoy it 。。。more

I enjoyed this book a lot。 It took me a moment to remember all of the details from the first book, but they came back quickly once I got going。 It feels rather dark and heavy in the beginning, because, well it is。 There’s much turmoil, but the hope and excitement quickly started to build by about 1/4, 1/2 way into the book。 The end was so sad but also perfect - both nightmare and Elspeth acknowledging the bond they’d built and love they’d grown, for one another。 I nearly cried。 It was such a bea I enjoyed this book a lot。 It took me a moment to remember all of the details from the first book, but they came back quickly once I got going。 It feels rather dark and heavy in the beginning, because, well it is。 There’s much turmoil, but the hope and excitement quickly started to build by about 1/4, 1/2 way into the book。 The end was so sad but also perfect - both nightmare and Elspeth acknowledging the bond they’d built and love they’d grown, for one another。 I nearly cried。 It was such a beautiful ending, truly。 I definitely recommend reading this 2-series book。 I enjoyed Rachel’s writing (despite the many typos in this book 😬)。 。。。more

The long awaited book has arrived。 I loved it。 I even re-read the first book (which is literally something I’ve never done before) in preparation for this book。 It lived up to my expectations, which was hard with all of the hype on bookstagram during the long months waiting。 The only thing I would change is the epilogue。 It wasn’t really satisfying。 Maybe that is just me。I don’t know how she made me love a monster, but she did。 I wish we could have seen the reunion between nightmare and his fami The long awaited book has arrived。 I loved it。 I even re-read the first book (which is literally something I’ve never done before) in preparation for this book。 It lived up to my expectations, which was hard with all of the hype on bookstagram during the long months waiting。 The only thing I would change is the epilogue。 It wasn’t really satisfying。 Maybe that is just me。I don’t know how she made me love a monster, but she did。 I wish we could have seen the reunion between nightmare and his family when he was crossing the veil。 That would have been sweet to either have his one and only POV or have Ravyn watch it with his mirror card。 。。。more
